Fed: secret ballots bill a priority - Abbott
Workplace Relations Minister TONY ABBOTT says the federal government's bill to forceunions into secret ballots on votes for strike action is now its main priority.
The secret ballots bill, along with other government industrial relations bills, hasbeen stymied in the Senate by Labor and the Australian Democrats.
Mr ABBOTT says the government remains determined to take the unfair dismissal monkeyoff the back of small business through legislation.
But he's told ABC television the government's single most important bit of legislationis the secret ballots bill to ensure there are no strikes without secret ballots first.
He says that if it's good enough for the German Socialist government and the BritishLabour government, it should be good enough in Australia too.
