NT: Paragliding novelist isn t mad girlfriend

The girlfriend of a frustrated writer who paraglided into the grounds of Buckingham
Palace says he isn't mad, just determined.

The statement has come from 32-year-old MICHELLE BROWN, who says she is stunned, but
not surprised since he flew over New York's Central Park in October.

But Ms BROWN, of Palmerston, south of Darwin, says she's worried about 36-year-old
BRETT DE LA MARE'S newfound penchant for publicity.

Mr DE LA MARE rang her after London police released him to say he's all right but tired.

The pair have lived together at the township of Howard Springs, south of Darwin, for nine years.

Ms BROWN says life was fairly uneventful until Mr DE LA MARE was laid off in April
last year from the cement plant which he managed and decided to become a full-time novelist
