Sho: Diamond in trouble in bid for third straight gold

Shooter MICHAEL DIAMOND'S chances of a third consecutive Olympic gold medal are looking
slim despite getting off to a strong start.

DIAMOND shot a perfect round in the men's trap qualifying rounds but only shot 22 out
of 25 targets in the second.

The result puts the Australian well off the pace in a strong field, in which several
competitors shot perfect 50s.

Teammate ADAM VELLA shot a perfect second round for an overall score of 49.

Only six of the 35-strong field make the final tomorrow.
